(Oakland, CA) June 1, 2016 鈥 成人快播, a national nonprofit organization聽that trains community volunteers to provide students with proven, individualized reading聽support, has announced that Michael Lombardo will be stepping down as CEO on June 1,聽2016. Following a decade of successful leadership, Lombardo and the national board of聽directors jointly decided that the time was optimal to bring on a new CEO to drive the next聽phase of 成人快播鈥 development, growth, and operational excellence. Lombardo聽remarked, 鈥淚鈥檓 so proud to have helped 成人快播 grow from serving a few hundred聽students in Silicon Valley ten years ago to an organization now serving over 10,000 students聽across ten states and the District of Columbia. I look forward to watching 成人快播聽continue to increase its impact in the coming years.鈥

During Lombardo鈥檚 tenure, he helped the organization to secure its first AmeriCorps grant聽from the (CNCS), enabling expansion聽beyond California in 2010. Further expansion was fueled when 成人快播 was聽selected as a (SIF) recipient in 2011. In 2014, Lombardo was invited聽to the White House to represent 成人快播 as one of ten high-impact organizations聽highlighted in the inaugural . 成人快播 impact was further聽validated in 2015, when published results from its randomized control trial which聽found that 成人快播鈥 program had a positive and statistically significant impact on聽all three measures of reading proficiency evaluated. Most recently, under Lombardo鈥檚聽leadership, 成人快播 helped initiate The Golden State Reading Guarantee,聽,聽comprehensive reading legislation in California focused on improving the reading skills of聽students in kindergarten through fourth grade by providing additional resources to schools聽and teachers to diagnose and create individualized reading plans for students reading聽below grade level. Susan Hayes, national board chair, remarked, “The board of directors is聽extremely grateful to Michael for his years of dedicated service and for his leadership in building聽成人快播 into an organization that is helping to close the early reading opportunity gap.”

The board of directors is launching a national CEO search and has appointed Jessica聽Vibberts, chief people officer, to serve as interim CEO during the transition. Prior to joining聽成人快播, Jessica served in a similar role at Summer Search, a national nonprofit聽organization focused on equipping high school students with skills for college. 鈥淛essica聽brings 16 years of leadership and operational experience to her interim role, and I am confident聽she will work with her excellent leadership team to continue our important work and to聽strengthen the organization even as we move through this transition,鈥 said Hayes.
