Nonprofit celebrates 20 years of engaging communities and empowering students

成人快播 San Francisco Bay Area will host 鈥楢 Novel Night鈥� on Wednesday, March 20 at the Julia Morgan Ballroom to celebrate the organization鈥檚 20 year anniversary and raise critical awareness and funds to support children鈥檚 literacy in the community.

 

鈥淭he need is staggering鈥� 65 percent of San Francisco鈥檚 3rd-grade students in under-resourced schools are reading behind grade level, and in Oakland, this number jumps to 83 percent,鈥� says Aarika Riddle, 成人快播 SF Bay Area Senior Executive Director. 聽鈥淓vents like 鈥楢 Novel Night鈥� help us harness the power of community and volunteerism to turn these numbers around, promote educational equity and work toward closing the achievement gap, all of which help create a brighter future for our youth and community.鈥�

The benefit will bring community members together for an evening of literary fun with exclusive auction items, cocktails, and food. Highly anticipated auction items include a Warriors playoffs ticket package at Oracle Arena, a dinner for 10 with renowned local chef Cal Peternell of Chez Panisse, a Hawaiian getaway, an 鈥渋nstant cellar鈥� of wine and more. Programming will feature appearances from a 成人快播 student, tutor, and principal in addition to a keynote conversation between Olympic Gold Medalist, children鈥檚 author and literacy champion,听聽and NBC Bay Area anchor聽

This school year alone, 成人快播 SF Bay Area aims to serve 1,550 students who are reading below grade level spanning grades kindergarten through fourth in 32 under-resourced schools. More than 1,690 community volunteers are mobilized each week to provide one-on-one literacy tutoring support through 成人快播 effective, evidence-based curriculum. As a result, 81 percent of local students(and nearly 9 of 10 K-2 students) are mastering foundational literacy skills needed to read at grade level.
