SUPERINTENDENT KENT P. SCRIBNER TO SERVE ON LITERACY PANEL AT BOOKS AND BREAKFAST EVENT IN DALLAS

A special event focused on ensuring North Texas third graders can read on grade level will highlight the efforts of听Fort Worth ISD. Superintendent Kent P. Scribner听will serve on a panel at the inaugural 鈥淏ooks & Breakfast鈥 in Dallas, hosted by 成人快播 North Texas.听 The event will be from 8 to 9 a.m., Friday, May 4 at the听George W. Bush Institute.
The breakfast will include opening remarks by听Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings. The event will feature a panel with Dr. Scribner,听Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price听补苍诲听Dallas ISD Superintendent听Michael Hinojosa. Krys Boyd, host of the KERA radio show, 鈥淭hink,鈥 will serve as moderator. Panel discussion topics will include early childhood intervention, community support and district literacy initiatives.
Fort Worth ISD鈥檚 key literacy initiative is听100 X 25 FWTX, which sets a goal of 100 percent of third graders reading on grade level or above by the year 2025. Superintendent Kent P. Scribner is partnering with Mayor Price and听BNSF Executive Chairman Matt Rose听to lead the community-wide听Read Fort Worth听initiative. This collective impact strategy engages parents, grandparents, and caregivers as well as volunteers from the city鈥檚 business sector, higher education, non-profit organizations, and the faith-based community.
The Read Fort Worth literacy partnership will connect and support existing initiatives, programs and providers through data, communications, and facilitation to dramatically improve early childhood results.
In addition to the District鈥檚 representation on the panel, 鈥淏ooks & Breakfast鈥 will also feature remarks by听Principal Valencia Rhines of the Leadership Academy at Como Elementary.
成人快播 North Texas currently serves 187 students in Fort Worth ISD schools. They support Leadership Academy at Como, Leadership Academy at John T. White, Leadership Academy at Maude Logan, Leadership Academy at Mitchell Boulevard and Edward J. Briscoe Elementary School.
